JaM - Profile Interview |
|
How long you been playing music?
Where you from? JaM: We are from the beautiful country of the Philippines.
Can you remember the first time you picked up a guitar or any musical instrument?
M: I as like in 6th grade. I started with the guitars (but I couldn't sing then) but I had this keen interest in drums when I first tried one when I was twelve. I fell in love with it instantly.
J: I've been belting out since I can remember -:) I play the bass, too, but am currently brushing up my skills. Yhey are a bit rusty now, I last played it 3 years ago.
How about song writing when did you learn to write songs? M: I could remember the first time I hummed a song in my head. iIwas sweeping the backyard and I think that was in high school.but I wrote my first song back in 98. Its actually a rap song. J: I sadly haven't fully composed a song yet and only have lyrics at the moment, but I will get there soon.
M: Rock, ballad, alternative, rap metal....I like Lifehouse and D-MAC.
When you write your songs or create your music, what are your inspirations?
M: Life in general. My Celebrity :-) God. J: My lyrics are about situations, feelings, love, my relationship with God. Do you have any achievements in your music before that you would like to share? M: I wouldn't necessarily call it an achievement, but i've released a rap metal CD (single) in the Philippines in 2005 and gave it away for free. Miracle Mind! Its about David n Goliath. J: I think the exposure we're experiencing now, both on TV and radio, is already an achievement for me. I'm simple, really. I never thought we'd get to do these things before, anyway. What are you up to these days? any upcoming events or gigs and perhaps an album? M: We're workin' with our music basically, polishing. We've been approached by a local Filipino manager and expressed their interest. Nothing final really at the moment. If it's God's will then it will push through. J: Everything's being finalized at the moment so no sure deal yet. Our fingers are crossed, though. How long you been in Dubai? and what can you say about Dubai? M: Oooh, nice question. 3 years and Dubai with all its painful and "prison-like" experiences, is an awesome place for me. when I first got here I said to myself, "I am where God wants me to be in life" it's the place where I met my Celebrity. Love the winter. young city full of dreams. J: 2 years. I consider Dubai my second home now. I've been blessed with really good friends here. (^_^)
What do you do besides music? any hidden talent?
M: Im in to flash animation J: Writing, I guess. I used to write for school papers all throughout grade school, high school and college. Any word of wisdom and encouragement to those who will be reading your profile? M: Do not under estimate the power of a coffee bean -:) Its small but when it undergoes the process becomes one of the most-loved drink by many (im not a fan of coffee though) I guess what I'm tryin to say is, the little dreams God places in our hearts, if you take it, embrace it and offer it back to Him, He will do the impossible, and then one day you will stand at the threshold of your dreams becoming reality. J: Do not be afraid to share your talent. It was given to you for a reason, make the most of it! I used to be scared of singing in public and being put on the spot. I have to admit that sometimes I still get stage fright, but then I remind myself that God has gifted me with this talent for His glory. At the end of the day, it's all about Him, anyway. Do you have anything to say about dubailime? M: Oh! Dubailime ROCKS!!!!!
J: Thank you so, so much for giving people like us a place to share our music and embracing both originality and diversity.. kudos! (^_^)
