The next week he got his first guitar and has been playing for five years or so. He used to play in a band called Hunger in India, his home country. The first song that he learned was; 'My Back Pages', by Bob Dylan. Melvin Jacob John has many influences but his favorites include; Alice in Chains, Pantera, Down and Testament for pure energy, vocal power and skill. The Allman Brothers for their winding blues. Tom Morello for his guitar playing. Bob Dylan and Tupac for their words.When not playing his guitar and writing songs, Melvin thinks up and write ads. He is copywriter in an advertising agency in Dubai. The most important things in his life are his parents, his wife, his sister and her family, air, food, water, God, football and music. He also collect musical instruments such as Ibanez acoustic, an Ibanez semi-acoustic and a Yamaha acoustic. Recently he got himself a foot pedal to figure out the whole effects thing.Melvin lives in Dubai for 19 years and he thinks the best thing about being in Dubai is meeting new people from different places and countries. When writing his original music he is inspired by great music from other musicians and many instances in life. If he is not doing his day job or his music, Melvin would like to be a football player. His other intersts are drawing and a bit of martial arts. The most important lesson that he would like to share is "sometimes the questions answer themselves'. Melvin Jacob John got his first guitar that his parents bought for him at the age of seven. He dismantled the whole thing apart and since then, he had managed to break three guitars. However, five years ago, he was amazed by a bunch of friends playing guitar and singing carols.
