Naree - Profile |
|
It all began just after her 14th birthday when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After two operations, chemotherapy sessions, a massive pulmonary embolism, kidney failure, eight days on a breathing machine. To help deal with what happened, Naree took up her guitar, put her pen to write and produced songs such as Heaven In This World, Stinging, and Just A Teenager. Those songs were the start of her path to a music career and showed her capabilities as a strong songwriter. However, these days her songs are inspired by the people she met and everyday events which most listeners can relate to.Her style of music is classed as Pop Rock meets Adult Contemporary, with critics already comparing her to Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne and even Lisa Loeb. However, she likes all types of music from rock to musicals and being half Thai, she also has a love for Asian pop music. All these influences add a unique quality to her songs, and give Naree the confidence to create the more light hearted, comical songs such as Superhero and Ho Ho Ho to the more serious, thought-provoking songs such as Blame and In Arms. She currently has two albums, I'm No Fool (2003) and Proud (2004) as well as a music video Superhero and various merchandise such as t-shirts and pendants. She resides in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates where she continues to work on her music but still finds time to work out at the gym and perform at various social events and cafes. In the future, she will be attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA , but will continue to perform and share her music with her fans. She also has plans to publish a book about her experience with ovarian cancer, and on a lighter note she hopes to develop an Anime (Japanese animation) based on "the adventures of Naree".
