Music Gear Review - AKG D90s |
|
The styling of this microphone does not seem to have the same " I can do anything to this microphone and it will not break" feel and the feel of it in your hand is much more delicate. Because of this I would recommend this microphone to the more pop style of artists. From looking inside this microphone i can tell you that it is very nicely put together. No corners have been cut in its construction as you would expect when buying any microphone with AKG branding. I can honestly tell you that if this microphone is looked after then it will easily outlive a less expensive microphone like an SM58. The sound of the D90 S to an untrained ear is identical to a Shure SM58 but with close listening you can tell that there is slightly more treble in the D90 S, so yet again, ideal for a pop singer. All in all, I would say that this is one of the best budget live microphones and is most certainly my favorite to date. The construction of this microphone is second to none and you with the brand name AKG you will know that if you do have any technical problems with this microphone then the customer care will take care of you.

The AKG D90 S is AKG's attempt to produce an alternative to Shure's SM58, and they have managed to do just that. This microphone had a very tight diaphragm and a narrow cardioid polar pattern. With its frequency response from 70k-18000k it is ideal for live performances.
